Time is Motion Video Highlights

  1. Musical time has many more dimensions than most people realize.
  2. Musical time isn’t mathematical or mental—it’s physical and felt.
  3. Real musical time lives in the body, not the mind. It’s about motion, rhythm, and presence.
  4. Musical time is not math. Musical time is not some abstract notion of sequences and things in your mind.
  5. Musical time is something that lives and breathes in physical motion.
  6. Merely counting time in your head is not music.
  7. Counting the meter out loud (one and two and three and four and one and two and three and four and…) is an improvement, but we can do better.
  8. Moving your body as your count is an enormous improvement (because that is where the music is!).
  9. Musical time live and breathes in physical motion in time and space.
