Blues Piano Lick 016 Fingering Suggestion

Blues Piano Lick 016 Interpretation Note
- Sing the music out loud the way you want to play it, and play it the way you sing it.
- Rests are notes too. Think of each rest as “unplaying” the note just before. Just as a key goes down when you play a note, the key comes up when you play a rest. Give each rest the respect it deserves and be consistent in your phrasing. Such attention to detail, internalized by studying and practicing the right way, will take your playing to the next level.
Choreography Tip
- Playing with your “weak” pinky and ring finger isn’t so hard if you let your arms do most of the work.
- Playing these four notes with freedom and ease requires you to use a liberal amount of lateral arm motion and arm rotations (see: Six Degrees of Freedom) that track the direction the music is going.
