Boogie Woogie School: Comping Pattern #2

Posted by

Second in the series… the left hand is a double-pump variation of Comping Pattern #1…

Technique Tips

  • Allow the shape and position of your coordinated arm-hand-fingers to fit each chord naturally.
  • Never throw your arm-hand-fingers at the keys; simply allow gravity do the work by releasing your arm-hand-fingers into the keys.
  • Never allow any part of your arm-hand-fingers to stop.
  • Play the very first C-G chord as a single and separate impulse, then the second C-G chord and following C-A chord as a combined impulse, then the following C-A chord and C-G chord as yet another combined, but separate impulse, and so on.
